The September meeting was held at the residence of Bill and Gay Reeves.  Treasurer Ed Tunstall opened the meeting at 9:20 am. Quite a few members were in attendance.  The Reeve’s backyard was centered around two ponds.  Gay’s artistic pottery was evident everywhere.  And Bill mentioned they added the waterfall this year.

Bill Reeves made a motion that all home and tour hosts in 2008 receive their dues free in 2009.  The feeling was that it was both expensive and time consuming to host meetings and tours.  This also might spur some new members to become hosts.  The motion was voted upon and passed handily.

Dan Stough talked on aeration in the pond.  The lecture was very informative.  Dan covered algae descriptions, oxygen saturation, pH changes and biofilters.  Also aerobic and anaerobic conditions.  He suggested keeping folds in liners small and fanlike to eliminate pockets of dead space.  He discussed the various types of aeration (airstones, waterfalls, fountains, etc.).
